Understanding marijuana hybrids is the key to successful growing.
If you plan to know your medical marijuana you need to have an understanding of what a hybrid is. Each marijuana strain is characterized by a phenotype – a difference in the outward, physical appearance of the plant. Basically a phenotype defines everything from the look, size of leaves and buds, smell, taste, potency, metabolism, growing time, cell structure and basically everything that makes the strain unique. While this theory is clear for pure sativa or indica strains it is pretty problematic if you try to define a hybrid, especially if it is some kind of an uplifting indica or a so-called heavy sativa.
During the hybridization of medical cannabis, the plant takes qualities from both sides and can easily form into a sativa with indica looks or flavors. Many people from the world of marijuana believe that very soon, the medical strains will need a new classification that will define them by their visual looks, potency or certain effect on the patient, because the current system is too shallow and often confusing.
